Workshops in Canada preparation

Mogi, " I'm a mobile display with no pay, mum always treats me like that.  Can I say no?"
"It looks ok but a bit shades would be good."
"Alright, I'll do other bundles."
Ok ok, let me do my way........Here comes a few samples.......

Before and after look

I put some rose leaves and eucalyptus on silk to bundle boil.  With some iron mordant I got shades and outlines.

Another piece of silk covered with cotton fabric, pretty mirror prints.  Silk got color while cotton got shades of purple to dark but clear.

Mogi, " hmmmmm, this looks good......"

I was invited to run workshops in Canada next month.
A series of workshops will be held in Langley, BC during 25/11 - 30/11.  I will teach natural prints on silk scarf, 3D wool felt hollow vessel and clutch with 3D textural flap.  Below are samples I made for the workshops.

I'm thrilled for my trip to North America, not only for the workshops I'll run, but also to learn from renowned artist Pamela A. MacGregor in Ohio for wool felt teapot.  Also to meet brilliant artists Dawn Edwards, Suzanne P Higgs, Ginny Huber......... I'm already in full swing.

Rich imprints with leaves of rose, eucalyptus, mandarin and other unknown.
Have a good day until next

Students' scarfs prints

This week I'd groups of students done natural prints on scarfs and wool felt flowers.  Each of them done two pieces of scarfs with two styles of prints. Quite nice to go with a scarf !
Natural printing on fabric with leaves was new to the groups.  Made it simple and easy I just used two species of eucalyptus leaves and rose leaves only some with iron mordant to give shades.
I showed them individual leaf prints, overlapped prints, folding methods, tying lines, bundling......
After 90-min boiling in dye pots with vinegar, iron water and leaves,  two pieces  of different styles of scarfs unveiled........
(Before and after picture)
Clear individual leaves prints of euc leaves and rose leaves
 Different pieces ......
The overlapped prints with tie lines are rich and some of the marks look funny

This piece is with all euc leaves (silver dollar) so looks bright

Dark and strong red are of iron mordant

Funny faces and marks.....

This looks grasses and flowers
Each of different layout and different outcome

Soft scarfs of natural prints made by my students.  They are soft and unique.  Isn't it?

My eco printed wearables

I've lots and lots of fabrics experiments on eco print &dye.  Some are good some are not.  Some scraps are just the size of a small scarf.  I've to make use of them ....... These couple of days I turned them to my wearables.
The blouse on the top is printed of eucalyptus (silver dollar), acer, maple, rose leaves.
A scarf printed with unknown leaves.  A pant of rose leaves.
Scarf with a wool felt closure

Scarf and pant printed with rose leaves
 Collar necklace printed with eucalyptus
How did I make it?  Well.......  My facebook friend Delia from Argentina sent me some dried acer, maple leaves.  I printed them also with my euc and rose leaves.
 Close up of the prints
I simply put my current blouse over the fabric, cut it in two pieces.   Sewed the front and back. That's it.
Made a pant with my cotton prints with all rose leaves.

Rose leaves are always my fav. Love to dip some in iron water to make shades of green.  A silk scarf is made with it.

A small scarp of unknown leaves from the back of the hill, turned to a small scarf.  That's good for the shoulders in air-cond room.
A cotton top bought from outlet less than 0.5 euro.  Good price but no good for prints.  Tried twice with leaves prints, no way.  Discard it is a waste. Goes well with a bright collar printed with euc.
All known cloth is our second skin.  We can make it as pretty as we can or just leave it of natural materials - no color.  Played magic to turn it with some color, subtle or organic........ Whatever it is appreciated.
Beauty is skin deep but my second skin will last longer.

Eco print ref book

Recent experiments of different leaves on different papers......
Mogi, "mum has made a eco print book for her ref."

A little journal with nuno felt cover,  with a paper of eco printed leaf sewed on it.

Inside cover of nuno felt texture.

Pages are marked with leaves and sorts of papers used for the experiment.
Intended to put some rose petals over the leaves to make some pink marks.  Different sorts of leaves picked from the mountain behind my apartment were tried.
But not all got nice prints.  Ferms have no clear color or outlines.
Among all, the paper bark tree, eucalyptus cinerea and maple are quite good on some sorts of papers.
With iron mordanted lines, they look pretty.
Windfalls of this sort of euc leaf is very nice.
Outlines of paper-bark tree are sharp.
Maple is good.
Here are the steps of making.
After placing the leaves on papers, steamed and binded the signatures.  Made the nuno felt cover. sewed the paper cover of leaf print.  A little journal is made.
Not all the pages are nice. I marked the species and paper used.  That's a good ref. for my sourcing local leaves to make paper prints.
Over the weekend with hubby we walked up and down the mountain, to the sea shore, picked some local leaves to do another experiments for my upcoming eco print journal.

This is my ref. book of eco print.....
a journal for my path of eco print..........

Mogi, "mum, that's enough I'm tired......."
- Well, until next time.....  THANK YOU all !
