My cup of tea - Teapot making

Mogi, "hey, this is Mum's cup of tea."

Right after my workshop learning the wool felt teapot making from Pamela A. MacGregor (Tarvey Cottage Studio) a month ago, I really hooked in the creation and made a few as practice.

This one was made in Pamela's studio, the first one I learnt in early winter in Ohio. Intended to make it with little green and a sprout to expect spring.  Know it's snow storm and everywhere covered with inches of snow.  The grasses are now frozen !
Got inspired by Suzanne Higgs I made two teapots with lace.  Well, they felted and clear on white.

This pair of "black & white" are tiny.  I'm quite happy to work with this size.
This one,  Aladdin teapot.  Idea came from Judy L.  She gave me this little souvenir after her trip to Dubai.  I put some silk strings and yarns for decoration.

This set made earlier with some Wenslaydale curly fleece to have textural surface.

This purple one I made with some yarns embellished to have the look of "lavender field"

Stopper with Wenslaydale curly fleece and embellished with glass beads.

Though wool teapots are not functional, I made them for fun.   This one the mouth is a bit bigger, I put a jam jar inside as flower pot.

Smaller one for a rose

"Hmmmmm, fragrance I love....  I know it's mum's cup of tea"

Aladdin  teapot with removal stopper

Making teapot is absolutely wonderful.  I love the little sturdy objects, love the versatility of 3D making, embellishment and the combination with fibres and fabrics.

I really enjoyed so much the workshop with Pam.  Her techniques are awesome, her studio is wonderful.  Here's my previous post about the studio.
I've a facebook page, please visit and comments welcome.

Wine carrier

"Red or white?" In flight we're asked but now is "black & white".
"紅酒、白酒 ? "
不.... 是 "黑白貓".
鍾愛黑白貓, 因此做一個羊毛盛酒手挽送給一位海外朋友.
The wool felt wine carrier I made with the pattern of a black & white cat.  I fond of  B&W cats so much.
A stretching cat in the front and back.  Made this in one piece with tail for the handle.
I used mostly merino wool with little mohair and curly locks to make it firm.  It's strong enough to carry a pair of red and white.
Love lavender, I put a little purple wenslaydale on the back for textural surface.
 Side looks of the bag

"Who's that black guy?", Mogi.
"Hmmmmm, mum made the aged cat again", Mogi.
"He's not as smart as me," Mogi.
Oh, yes, again I made the mature cat. Have to admit I'm not skillful to illustrate a cute cat. Forget it, cheers, chin-chin or toast ...... have a glass of wine.
Be it a wine carrier or a vase, it's a functional stuff  I'm going to give it away to a friend in two weeks.

24-h in my sanctuary

Yellow, orange, green..... vivid colors of life I love.  My 24-h weekend in my sanctuary started with such bright colors........
I've a one-on-one nuno felt handbag tutorial with student C.     I appreciated very much for her coming from the far north to my tiny studio in the south island.  She started by layering thin wool and a chiffon fabric with foam resist. On top put on mulberry silk strings and silk scraps for the textural effect.  After almost 4 hours she made it.
Beautiful color of nuno felt flowers, some curly Teeswater fleece and silk strings which will be lustrous after dried.
Simple on the other side also with some silk strings.
C. is interested in wet felting.  She self-learnt and made small pretty pouches. For big project like this was the first time. I'd say that making the handle is tricky and doing the nuno felt flowers are wonderful.
Well done girl.  Thanks for coming to my far away tiny studio.
My sanctuary is in Stanley.  Sometimes I do my creations or give tutorials.  Also a space to showcase .......

The nuno felt dresses learnt from Vilte Kazlauskaite
Baby booties and hat, ceramics I made earlier....

Little table with wool felt bottle
A rug learnt from Nicola Brown, Hat learnt from Marie-Clare Buckle.  Vessels inspired by Shirley Cook.
The needle felt dogs and cats.  Ceramic dolls with nuno felt dresses.
The little corner I do my creations or dreaming..........
Stayed overnight, a walk to the pier......
Boats sailing by....
My studio, the little sanctuary with inspiration around.....
Call it a day I picked a stone from the stream to make a wool felt paper weight later.

Beret made in a jaunt

Mogi, "Mum made this beret with inspiration from a friend.  How she come up the idea?"
Starting my leisure and relaxing life 2013, last week I'd a jaunt to my brother's holiday house in the nearby coastal city.
We went up the hill for the panoramic view.......
Down to the sea for a strolling.....

Cycling in the beautiful field....
 A lazy afternoon for knitting.....

I'm far behind doing knitting.  Since Melinda taught me last month in the US, I told myself I must make something with mixed medium -  wool felt & knitting.
Here it is....
I knitted the simple "round net" enclosed the resist, put the merino wool and silk scraps on the top with spikes in the middle.  Round enclosed the rim with merino wool as well.  Done the rubbing and felting as usual.
The yarn is not wool though also felted.  To secure it I machine sewed it freely.
Finished look with nuno felt surface
Making a whole wool felt beret is faster than knit & felt.  Yet I wanted to have a go.  Thought this is unique with mixed medium.
How it looks on my girl?
 It speaks itself.....
How it looks on Mogi?  Mogi said "it's good !"
Thank you Melinda, you inspired me knitting !
