Styles of Scarf

A scarf of both sides - wool and silk with natural prints.
Left is the wool side and the right  is silk of the same scarf.

Most prints on wool side are bold and impressive.

These days I haven't done much natural prints since hooked on wool felt.  To prepare a natural print scarf workshop this weekend I bought euc cinerea and roses from florist and  went to the  bushes to pick some barks.  To my surprise there're lots blow off of euc and some maples. That triggered my juice of creation again.    I cut a small piece of the formerly bought quite expensive "boiled wool"for the experiment.

I put sorts of leaves on the  "boiled wool"  and bundle boiled for 2 hours.  Turnout is good  except the oak leaf is not impressive.

I was quite happy particularly the pink rose and outlines.

I found the prints of the "boiled wool" nice and decided  to make a long scarf with it.  I sewed the wool piece over the longer silk fabric with natural prints.  So a scarf of both wool and silk both with different prints.

The wool piece is sewed on the silk fabric with  longer silk ends that make soft knot or draping.

What customers' expectation

I was asked to do three pieces of nuno felt shawls by lady C. Instantly I was chuffed for my works caught attention.  This way of making garments is still new in Hong Kong.   Glad that people find it unique and want it. My girl Jasmine showed it right after all finished.  Thought to myself it's good.
The shawls were made by laying merino wool and some mulberry silk over the chiffon base.
After rubbing, rolling for some 200 times back & forth.  Followed by light motions of throwing and "moving" around - the effortless action I like to do.
Within hours it come the shawl.
Another piece is in brown tone
My girl was fond of it and asked me to do her a piece.  Never say no to my darling girl or shout at my sweet Mogi.
Mogi, "how soft it is?

Totally made 4 during the weekend.   The last one for Jas...
Wrap in different styles, upside-down or inside-out with different shades of black, grey and white.....

Girl's naughty look.
I was happy to have done the commision and ready to go for the buyer lady C.
These  shawls are what I supposed good for the winter. Lady C was nice and said they're warm enough and she loved all BUT if they're thinner would be best also for handbag carrying.  I was a bit uneasy for a while since they're not what I assume all right. I said I could do another piece with just little scattered wool which will be light and thin.

That night I made a lighter one and given to lady C the following morning. She said it's excatly what she wanted.  I intended this is free for her but she's kind and  insisted on paying
 all.
I seldom sell my items, not to mention for a commission.  It's not that easy to meet others expectation.  Quite some pressure.  Anyway, that's a good start for me.

Wool Hanging

Have a wool felt picture workshop scheduled in June. Be it a one-on-one or a group I normally have to show a few samples. This weekend I made a few with imagination.

Tried this one with flowers outside the margin.
Nuno felt flowers of silk chiffon.
Always find the soft wool felt pictures are good in a kid's room.
I like to make pictures of flowers and country side scenery.

Imagine I'm in a lavender field, my little house in the yellow grasses.

Little showcase of my needle felt and wet felt stuff.

Here in Hong Kong summer is around and Ppoinciana are in full blooming.

The red-orange color is flame like. Just love this eye catching sight in summer.

Yesterday I was on my way to my mum in Shatin. Along the river there're lots of Poinciana. It hit my mind I wanted to make a hanging of this flower.

I picked some dried pods for home decoration.

This hanging was then made with imagination of Poinciana and hanged with the dried pod.

Linking with Debbie Doo's Newbei party.

Felting workshop I gave

Have planned long for a workshop for friends of our pottery studio. Thanks for Choi Chi for lending us the studio. We made it happen today for a felting workshop. Sunday this afternoon, a group of ten joined the workshop. Most are new to this kind of wool crafts but they're talented and learnt fast. I first shown them to make a brooch, then a soap and followed by a pouch. See the colorful works they've done. All delighted to see the outcome and satisfied with the works done. Choi Chi was so kind to treat us cheese cake after workshop. We're packed with lovely and colorful stuff home. I'm so happy to offer this first class after learning the skills from UK.
