Workshops in Canada preparation

Mogi, " I'm a mobile display with no pay, mum always treats me like that.  Can I say no?"
"It looks ok but a bit shades would be good."
"Alright, I'll do other bundles."
Ok ok, let me do my way........Here comes a few samples.......

Before and after look

I put some rose leaves and eucalyptus on silk to bundle boil.  With some iron mordant I got shades and outlines.

Another piece of silk covered with cotton fabric, pretty mirror prints.  Silk got color while cotton got shades of purple to dark but clear.

Mogi, " hmmmmm, this looks good......"

I was invited to run workshops in Canada next month.
A series of workshops will be held in Langley, BC during 25/11 - 30/11.  I will teach natural prints on silk scarf, 3D wool felt hollow vessel and clutch with 3D textural flap.  Below are samples I made for the workshops.

I'm thrilled for my trip to North America, not only for the workshops I'll run, but also to learn from renowned artist Pamela A. MacGregor in Ohio for wool felt teapot.  Also to meet brilliant artists Dawn Edwards, Suzanne P Higgs, Ginny Huber......... I'm already in full swing.

Rich imprints with leaves of rose, eucalyptus, mandarin and other unknown.
Have a good day until next

Wearable art from thousands miles

I've a creative weekend. The nuno felt wearable art piece I made with the beautiful prints from......
Last Sat I received a package from Argentina. The package from my FB friend Delia D.  Delia knew I love eco print and was so nice to send me over thousands miles the pretty windfalls of Acer buergerianum, aceraceae....  Though some experts advocate regionalism.  It's no harm to use windfalls from other regions to do prints.
I couldn't wait to do experiments with them on silk fabric.  Prints of leaves are all brown with pretty shapes.
To have a little bit shades, I used my way of iron mordant to make another piece I added eucalyptus and rose leaves.
A little red, green and brown on this scarf.
Face lift of eucalyptus, acer and rose leaves.  Euc with buds were impressive.
Green rose leaves, red hearts of euc cinerea and aceraceous.
I made a wearable piece with the printed fabric. I do not know what to call this "wearable". A poncho? a scarf? a wrap? a shawl?  This is a simple nuno felt one-piece with slip-in sleeves. Can be wore in many easy ways, up or down and reversible.
Double folded scarf
Slip in sleeves.... insert and wrap....

The all season wearable, for breeze summer or windy winter.   If anyone could tell me what sort of wearable is this called would be good.

Make it a bag

Mogi, "Mum made a tote bag with her eco printed fabric."

"She laid out assorted euc leaves and rose leaves.
What?   Make a face? "

I put the leaves on a 100% silk fabric. Euc leaves for ears, eyes, stalk peels of rose for the head outlines.  Two-fold wrapped and boiled in water with a little vinegar for an hour.  Unbundled and sewed a tote bag.

Mogi, "Mum, it doesn't look like me. Christine S. said it looks like a panda rather than a cat !"
It doesn't matter, just for fun to have a pattern bag.  I made the bag with lining (scraps of curtain samples) and straps (cotton dyed in my Portugal workshop last).
A finished look of two-side bag
A bag for carrying books, for grocery ..... anything as l like.

Another smaller bag also made with eco prints for my friend "IL".  I gave her two years ago a bag with painting.  I know it's washed out.  Just wanted to give her a new one.
With the lining and inner pocket written - "I'm Original - tk"
Straps are waist strap from used coat

The fabric and leaves are soaked in alum. So prints are a bit yellowish.
Wish "IL" loves this bag
We're into summer.  Mogi, it's so hot for holding you around but you do inspire me creation!

Incidental outcome

"Blue, blue, mum never blue.....  how come mum made it blue", Mogi curious.
A wool top of prints of eucalytus leaves with blue background.  How come?
Digged my wardrobe to do eco print experiments, I found this wool top with a blue stripe.
Placed the rose leave, eucalyptus leaves and twigs. rolled up and tied a bundle.  Boiled for an hour.  Oh my God....... it's breeding.... "blue blood".

The blue tie stripe was breeding and made the whole bundle blue.  Fortunately the leaves marks are still clear.

Thought it's the chemical dye of blue that made the eucalyptus leaves from red to dark. Oak leaf is same usual dark.
Twigs outlines are clear and bold.
Rose leaf is clear.

Tie marks on shoulder.
Mogi, "haha.... mum, you can't claim this is eco dye...."

Mogi, "no eye see it, mum should mind any color other than white when doing prints."
The accidental outcome is not too bad but it's not my idea of eco print.  Anyway, a lesson to learn.

Wool top on 2 generations

Again playing around eco print.  My white wool top is a bit with fuzz on sleeves.  Just wanted to make a change with eucalyptus.
Placed different sorts of eucalyptus leaves over the wool top for accordion fold. Bundled and steamed for an hour.
Subtle and organic new look of the wool top.
 String marks on shoulder
Some euc leaves with iron water mordanted, some not....
 different shades of leaves

I love it and Mogi loves it too...

Seems this goes well with my young daughter..
