Signature art book no. 1 我的 "特色 小本子製作

I made an art book (last post) of botanical imprints both cover and the papers, right after I listed on ETSY it became my  most "fast moving item" thanks to Dawn Edward (Felt So Right)'s  kindness.  My friend also named Dawn from the US also loves that art book and asked me to make the same style plus one other free style.  I really love dawn - the morning beam of hope and brightness.  Love you both Dawn.  

So....... last week, I buried myself in the creation specially for Dawn, while I was making the papers, doing stitch by stitch I was thinking of my friend how she appreciates the nature, the trees, the leaves and kindness to an artisan.

早前在 ETSY 上架的 一本手作小本子, 不消一刻便售出. 有美國朋友人特意定製兩本作為私人小記及送禮, 因而這星期埋頭用心的製作, 完成了, 在後山溪流拍攝了這輯相片.

Nuno felt cover of textural surface with sprinkling glass beads, tied with euc silver dollar heart shaped book mark, enclosed with self made ceramic button.

I wanted to make this art book more colorful with the silk fabric printed mainly with euc silver dollar and rose leaves

A book of 5 signatures,  in between inserted with the silk prints, i.e. a book of 90 single sided papers or 180 pages front and back.

I used my botanical printed silk to make the nuno felt cover

I made the leaves prints on silk fabric then cut it into five equal section, pressed with under-lining to make the silk "pages" firmer, hand stitched the edges.  Yes, I insisted on handmade -  a touch of love.

The papers are steam printed with assorted leaves collected in my area.

Book mark is made with two leaves prints - euc silver dollar and rose leaf. That is the theme of the art book.

Leaves painting tote bags 植物印畫布袋製作

 

Playing with botanical prints with different leaves, I painted the scenery...... 

 

 Assorted leaves give shades but I wanted it with "living  things".

 Cut the cow shape on a leaf......

 A Mogi shape on another leaf

 I set four pieces scenery "picture", each with different leaves incl. rose and assorted euc as well pines.  Two with cat shapes and two with cows.

 I cut cow shapes on euc and "India rubber" leaves .

 

After all set on the silk fabrics then bundle boiled for 1.5 hours in clear water.

 

 Cows of different leaves but only the eucalyptus is bold and brown I wanted.

  

 No harm, the other painting with cats are not bad.

 Each of the printing are two folded, i.e. mirror print. 

 Got four pieces of the experiments of "scenery painting", I can't wait to do the tote bags with them. Grasped the cotton fabric, cut it, sewed it..... all done in the weekend......

 Tote bags for grocery,  book carrier or whatever purposes.

 Love the cats, love the cows. They're my creation inspiration. I recalled the day I visited a friend in Lantau (大嶼山 水口村), there're lots of wild cows.  I just love them roaming  (last post).  Coming Friday I'll go hiking with a group and will be there .  Hope to see some cows again.

 Right after I posted the printing on facebook, a friend Lisa already bought this bag because she loves cats.  Thanks Lisa for making this "fast moving item"

Handmade Mixed Media Artbook 多媒體創作小本子

 Flapping in the air.......... handmade art book of multi-media.......

 Cover of eco printed euc leaves and sparkling........... hmmmmmm, aroma of nature.....

 With the abandoned paper index dividers in hand, I printed some of them with leaves collected in my area.  My last post of making.

Made it coptic binded with 7 signatures, in between with printed papers and printed silk fabrics

Grasped the remnant silk printed with assorted euc, I made a nuno felted cover with 3D texture.

Finished binding  with sparkling glass beads and enclosed with ceramic buttons

  

Each signature inserted with natural paper prints and fabric prints ......

 

made it an art book of more than 110 pages for writing and aroma of nature.

So far this is my "signature" art book made with the skills I love - ceramic, nuno fet and eco print.

Eco prints on paper 紙張植物印染

 

I keen on experimenting different paper prints. Here are a few of the outcome

   

 Just grasped the paper index dividers which I do not need for my box file. Prints of the top image is not bad.

 My friend Zeinad gave me a few delicate handmade papers from India with sort of hair, may be horse hair? Prints with euc and rose leaves are quite impressed.

 Rose leaf never made me disappointed.

 Even on a recycled music paper from my girl is very strong.

 My way of making paper prints is easy with my handy tools.

 I stacked a batch of paper with leaves sandwiched. Tied tightly with the racks (a simple aluminum steaming rack common in Chinese cooking). That's exactly the size of my used rice cooker (use the old one that will never used for cooking meal !). Boiled for an hour, here it comes.......

 I made some papers with different prints, always have  approved by this brat !

 An artbook with eco prints of  paper and silk fabric together with nuno felted cover with own made ceramic buttons.  Thought this is my "signature" artbook with the crafty ideas I've made so far .
