Eco print workshop for special student

Being an amateur eco printer, I never thought of drawing overseas students. How glad that my facebook friend Meg's so passionate about the style of my prints/dyes and flown from Taiwan to learn from me.  My honor to share with like-minded. We have a 2-day intensive workshop to do experiments of assorted prints, dyes and make an eco print journal.
Meg and I've never met but only via facebook.  On the first day we met and worked, we knew we've same thinking and she picks up very quickly.
The first piece we done a silk fabric with  euc leaves, rose leaves and maple leaves.  In order to show Meg the shades, some leaves with iron mordant some without.
In the meantime we made the iron mordant for her future use.
We tested the iron mordant and got what we wanted - shades below.
Rose leaves dark with iron mordant.
Some euc leaves brown or darker with iron mordant.
Paper prints done for making a journal.
Wool felt journal cover
Dyed in euc pot and bundled with euc prints, all done in the same time.
The string marks and white space intended to make.
Paper prints and wool felt cover to be binded.
Day 2 the eco print wool felt journal was made.
Enclosed with my handmade ceramic button.
Meg made a nuno felt shawl with long curly fleece.  She put a little euc leaves over it and bundle dyed in onion pot.   It's bright.  Meg may find it too eye-catching.
The lustrous long fleece is shining brown.
What's that bundle? Eager to see the outcome.......
It's the nuno felt wool top Meg made.  Prints got some bright orange  but rose leaves are dark.  Reverse side with some brown /grey.
Still a good test on her first eco print trial.
"Mogi, do you approve this?"
We made prints with alum in order to get yellowish. We got it, a little pale yellow /green of rose leaves and the soft orange of euc cinerea.  Wonderful to have spotty outlines.
Pale with alum and dark with iron.
Euc cinerea is always a magic in printing.
Mogi, "mun's student is so talented and creative. You're wonderful to have her around".
"Yes, I'm so pleased."
Fabulous works by Meg.
Among all,  this soft chiffon scarf she found impressive.
All ready to pack home.
In the 2-day intensive workshop we still have an hour walk behind my apartment to see the city view.  Thanks to my hubby who watched the boiling pots.
Tomorrow we two couples will have a day out in the island south.  Wish the weather will be good to allow us to have a glimpse of our stunning island.

Students' wool felt handbag

"Yes, this is mine. I made it !" My student Ahbee proudly showed us this after a hard day work !
Teamed up with Pottery Stall, a nuno felt handbag workshop was arranged this Sunday. A class focused on nuno felt textural surface and handle making which took quite some hours to finish.
Layering wool......
Put on silk chiffon and mulberry silk......

Rolling......
Cut the top....

Making the firm handles....

Almost exhausted.... they made it... both sides of own preferred different looks.
A little Teeswater fleece
Teeswater fleece and chiffon scrap
With my eco printed chiffon scraps
Mixed mulberry silk and raw fleece
Mulberry silk and raw fleece
Again some Mulberry silk, my dyed Teeswater fleece and eco print chiffon
After almost 7 hours, bags finished, still wet and heavy.   A hard day exercise !
They enjoyed it though a bit tired.

I'm sure after dry the silk strings are lustrous and the ruffly chiffon are nice.
Well done gals.

Wool felt purses

A student asked if I teach wool felt purse with frame. I said I've never done and not keen on making.  How can I reject the challenge?
Well,  must at least to do one, I used a resist to make it.
 Attached the clasp after felted.
Embellished both sides with little flowers.
It's cute and I made three in a row.
I love poppies and it's easy to do stitches. Made this from my mind the pictures taken in England last summer.

Purple and white are good match
My blog friend Rachel does embroidery so pretty.  She inspired me a lot.  I don't know what knots are these, just random stitches.
A purse is also good for USBs, devices, keys......

This one with compartment

Both sides of each purse has different stitches.
Poppies
Lavenders or sort of flowers and mountain scenery

Random laying with mulberry silk and wool.
I showed these to a friend, she said it's famine.  She does mean it "old lady's".
Living in the fascinating city,  all ready-made stuff are cheap and quite a good buy but I just love the one-of-a-kind handmade !!

Peace of mind doing embroidery with imagination of good memories of beautiful scenery.

Pace of life 生活步伐

Spring has sprung.
Can't believe, it's April.  Time flies so fast!  Since quitted from work, my pace of life seems going too fast.  My plate is full.  I wanted to do this to do that...... Today's the last day of Easter holiday (everyday is my holiday), I made a sample wool felt handbag for my upcoming workshop.
I like to put the chiffon base then laid wool over it.
With one side of little Teeswater for textural surface, the other side of nuno felt flower.

Early in the morning I went to the bay near my studio to take some images.
Tide rip seems gentle
Rest on the rock
Breath the sea breeze....
Frankly I scare of sea, shame that I do not swim.  Looks as if sea roaring....  There was nobody.
After a few pictures I rushed and passed by the park.
Wild daisy on the path.
Pace of life should be slow...... would it be a burden for the snail's whole life?  A little snail I carefully not to step on.

Snake?  Yes, I've seen a 4 ft long snake in the park.  Nature is of wild life, tame or not we should keep pace with.
