Fibre arts creation

Year 2020 is difficult for all of us.  We used to travel for teaching or learning overseas but all schedules hold off or cancelled. People in lockdown have to find something engaged. I need to review what I have been doing these years. Though I addicted to eco printing I find wool felting, my initial encountered fibre arts, is versatile in my creation. I'm back to felting table  these days. This is a knitted wool jersey I sewed it a raglan tunic with only neckline wool felted.

White is pure and goes well with botanical eco printed leather belt and accompanied with  nuno felted purse.  I like the set but can't resist to do eco printing on it just with basic skills and simple eucalyptus layout.   Here come the result.......
Simply with eucalyptus leaves and a few strokes of casaurina.
Just don't want to waste the remnant I printed it the same tone. Looks like set of tunic and mask.

Another fibre creation is wool felt purse.
Weather is becoming cool and wool felted purse is a warm accessory. Made this seamless purse with inner pocket.  Both sides embellished with lace and yarns with nuno felt technique.
Another seamless purse done with white wool fleece then eucalyptus printed.
A hat round with wool jersey eco printed scraps.  Set of fibre art creation - wool and eco printing.

Strolling in my area wrapped in eco prints. Sounds no one recognises me.
Thought Mogi approves it and likes sitting in the shade with fragrance of eucalyptus.
The tunic in white with wool felt neckline I have only dressed once for shooting. Now eucalyptus printed and will be my casual winter top, bright color makes me cheerful.

Wool felt purses

A student asked if I teach wool felt purse with frame. I said I've never done and not keen on making.  How can I reject the challenge?
Well,  must at least to do one, I used a resist to make it.
 Attached the clasp after felted.
Embellished both sides with little flowers.
It's cute and I made three in a row.
I love poppies and it's easy to do stitches. Made this from my mind the pictures taken in England last summer.

Purple and white are good match
My blog friend Rachel does embroidery so pretty.  She inspired me a lot.  I don't know what knots are these, just random stitches.
A purse is also good for USBs, devices, keys......

This one with compartment

Both sides of each purse has different stitches.
Poppies
Lavenders or sort of flowers and mountain scenery

Random laying with mulberry silk and wool.
I showed these to a friend, she said it's famine.  She does mean it "old lady's".
Living in the fascinating city,  all ready-made stuff are cheap and quite a good buy but I just love the one-of-a-kind handmade !!

Peace of mind doing embroidery with imagination of good memories of beautiful scenery.

Play the magic wand....

Idea came from Heather's eco dye purse (Heather's blog) we done with Nicola Brown in Portugal,  The outcome of prints on wool was impressive so I made my own with the eucalyptus leaves and rose leaves last weekend.
Eucalyptus Cinerea is my fav. It gives bold and bright red/orange color.
The reversible bag has different prints in and out with rose leaves and two kinds of eucalyptus leaves.  Unexpected outcome I've ever done.

I'm really so happy with this and love to share.  See the pic. how it is made.
After the wool felt purse was made, I soaked in diluted vinegar for a few hours
 before laying the leaves.

Put some euc cinerea leaves inside the purse (sandwich) and a little on the surfaces.   The narrow euc leaves were windfalls after strong wind in my area. It's a "treasure" to get the green leaves since we're not allowed to pluck.
I covered the purse surface with kitchen wrap and bundled. Brought to boil and simmered for 45-min. Left in a thermo pot overnight (keep hot for some more hours).

See the leaves prints from laying out, then boiled to finished.
The reversible purse has both inside & outside prints also back & front.

Rose leaves are not so bright but still clear outlines, contrast with euc cinerea bright red.
Fresh euc cinerea leaves are silver-green and smaller.
I scattered them over the wool surface and put the euc barks to make the branches. also the euc buds. Amazingly the color is very bold and bright.

Reverse inside out.

A full look with two flaps.

Back side.

With flap down.
Reverse inside out.

Because this is a reversible purse I haven't yet decided how to put the button on. May attach my handmade ceramic button like this.
From plain to bright in 24 hours.

A reversible purse with both looks !  I love the bright orange !
When I see orange color I think of "orange lover" Heather. I showed her blog of wool ring making to my colleague L.  She said orange was her cup of tea and would like to learn.  I'd offer a free session for colleagues to make this cute little thing if time suits.  Before that this little ring goes to L.
My hats off  to Nicola Brown who's so generous to show us how to make all sorts of wool stuff.  I love the rings and have made some for giveaways.  The bigger white one can be a scarf "clip".
