Such bright prints

The bright red of eucalyptus cinerea is what Windy wants. Yes, we're doing eco print workshop.
Different sorts of euc leaves on silk chiffon. Some were dipped in iron mordant water.

Students each done two pieces, one with kitchen wrap resist, one without so as to have overlapped and string marks.

After two hours boiling, excited to unbundle ........

Bright is bright - "silver dollar" euc leaves are amazing.

Brown, dark, red, green......iron dipped leaves with dark prints, rose leaves remain green.

Helping hands for my captures

Shades of rose leaves
Iron mordant leaves with darker prints
Green rose leaves without iron mordant
Each has two pieces done. String marks on both ends are their expectation.

While boiling the bundles, nuno felt flowers were made.

We used bubble resist with centre holes cut off, so the petals are attached without thread.  A loop at the back is also done in one go.  The brooch goes well with cloths, scarf or handbag
Thanks gals for joining my class in a Sunday afternoon.
Eco printing is such a wonderful thing that we can not expect too much the outcome but each is unique and natural.

Students' wool felt handbag

"Yes, this is mine. I made it !" My student Ahbee proudly showed us this after a hard day work !
Teamed up with Pottery Stall, a nuno felt handbag workshop was arranged this Sunday. A class focused on nuno felt textural surface and handle making which took quite some hours to finish.
Layering wool......
Put on silk chiffon and mulberry silk......

Rolling......
Cut the top....

Making the firm handles....

Almost exhausted.... they made it... both sides of own preferred different looks.
A little Teeswater fleece
Teeswater fleece and chiffon scrap
With my eco printed chiffon scraps
Mixed mulberry silk and raw fleece
Mulberry silk and raw fleece
Again some Mulberry silk, my dyed Teeswater fleece and eco print chiffon
After almost 7 hours, bags finished, still wet and heavy.   A hard day exercise !
They enjoyed it though a bit tired.

I'm sure after dry the silk strings are lustrous and the ruffly chiffon are nice.
Well done gals.

Nuno felt shawl workshop

In a March Sunday afternoon, still cool and good to run a nuno felt shawl making workshop.   Organised by Pottery Stall Studio, here come my students' shawls.......
A silk chiffon base with some merino wool and Teeswater long fleece........
With some wild fleece to make the textural surface.....

A black chiffon with some merino wool and mulberry silk to make the nuno felt wrap.  Looks like clouds ?
A shawl with textural colar is what I wanted to teach.
Making in the progress ........
 Layering wool...
OMG, the black chiffon was breeding.  How irritated to have bought this !  Next time I must wash it beforehand.
The Teeswater long fleece is good for textural effect.  The 4-hour workshop seems too much for the ladies.  They're exhausted after the layering, rubbing, fulling....... They said it was a class of physical exercise to loose weight.
Come on ladies, do a lot and to have a fit form.
