All natural dye - 3D texture clutch flap

Today I dressed  all in my eco print, lots compliments from my friend.  I said I like natural dye.  "What? You like natural die?"  I said "no no, I meant natural dye".
I've done quite a lot experiments of eco print / dye. Some are good some are not.   With cool season approaching, wool felt stuff becoming hot.  Since last Jan learnt the 3D textural surface,  can't stop to make bags to make use of the scraps. This is the one just made.

I like to use my own "not-so-good" dyed scraps just to make use of every single piece.  This georgette silk I imprinted the euc leaves but no good then dyed in safflower pot.  Still not pleased thus used for the 3D texture of a clutch flap.

After layered around and enclosed the resist and the 3D scraps.....

Final to lay the safflower dyed silk hankie for a bit yellow sheer look.

Time out, let the stuff saturate and have my coffee....... Mogi's final check....

Almost 3.5 hours rubbing, rock n roll........ here it comes.

The rich texture of the flap with little raw fleece is the way I like to do - a little soft against the hard "twist".

Finished with lining, magnet button and detachable strap.
The fold back flap to make an inner pocket is fine and the clutch size is just fit.
Goes well with the natural printed scarf.
A clutch of a detachable handbag is the sample for my upcoming workshop. Also a new item for my winter.
"Mum, it's windy, mind the blow-off.... "
Another 2 pieces of natural print nuno felt scarves are in the making.
Stay tuned, until next time.

Natural dyed nuno felt baby sets

These days I've been doing some nuno felt and wool felt with natural dyeing.  Months ago I  attended THEi workshop as guest for their students' works with NGO. (last post), I've scraps of silk dyed in safflower in the experiment.  Also I dyed my silk hankies, silk strings, silk naps and mulberry silk.
To make use of them a baby dress is made with nuno felt skills for textures with the yellow shades of safflower
The white silk stuff dip dyed in the safflower pot got shades of golden yellow on different materials.  All looks wonderful.
With the simple sketch of my nuno felt baby dress, silk chiffon base, a little scraps of organza and the safflower dyed scraps as well merino wool, I started the felting.
I'm very impatient doing any sorts of creation.  I told myself be patient and do well  for this little thing.  Silk strings, pulled silk hankies and white mulberry silk all laid carefully.  The yellow pattern for the flowers are true color dyed from safflower, only the little grayish scraps dyed in a pot with rose leaves.
After some "rock n roll", color stay the same good.  In 3 hours I finished it , time as usual for this little thing.

Today I made the little bootie to go with it.   Played my magic wand,  turnout in an hour..
A pair of bootie, front and back of the dress.
Nuno felt texture is what I want.  The yellow look is so sweet.

Aren't they adorable?  It's funt to make these little things.
The set is good for shower or wedding reception.  How beautiful  if you make it for your own baby.  When she grown up you'll recall all those sweet days on her first step of life.......

Fresh from onion broth

To do natural dye, nothing is easier than onion.  A 3D vessel and a pair of baby shoes are fresh from the onion dye pot.
Other than wool batts, I felted the vessel with raw fleece while the shoes with little scraps of silk chiffon for textures.
Grabed some onion skins to boil for a while with little vinegar.
Bundled the  vessel and shoes tightly then put into the dye pot.  Simmered 30-min for the booties while the vessel an hour to get strong color.
Unbundled the shoes.....
and the vessel...... tight tie lines are what I wanted.

My sketch.....All white, alright and turn to bright.......  that's what I wanted.
Silk chiffon after dyed, a little brown then wool.
All the looks......

So, the longer and the more onion skins the stronger the color.
A pastel color can be achieved with little onion skins and only dipped a while in the dye pot.
Last blog for this dress dyeing.

Eco print blouse easy make easy wear

I keen on experiments of eco print & dye. This is only a few of my stuff.   What to do with these?  For scarfs are too much though  some will be used for nuno felt garments base.  Well let me make a simple blouse ........
With two iron water dyed strips and the main part of various wild leaves prints, I just sewed together along waist with top open neck .
Prints dipped in iron water and each isolated, thus prints clear.
A simple silk blouse is made

Pull in, two waist holes, free size

Slip in waist holes with iron printed fabric belt
The look
Goes well with iron dyed chiffon scarf waist line
Another simple look
The blouse is soft and light
Wrap around as scarf
A blouse as well a scarf - two ways to wear.
Mogi, "fair enough for today........  until next time....."

My little corner

" If I had a mas in Provence "........ Only a dream to me.  The little book my friend Brigitte gave me.  The book of simple lines and color drawings that convey the elements of Provence with delightful artistry.  I can't afford to buy a house in Provence but drawing on the wall is allowed.

I tired of the yellow wall with flowers I painted two years ago.  Took the recent crisp dry days, time to have a make-over.
Lazy me, I just covered with the light paint
Sketched a house with vine, stairs, roofs........ then painted with acrylic
All finished in a day. Terrible brushes to the eyes of painters.  Not to show a close up of the graffiti.   Don't laugh.
A cat - big eyes
A corner for us - Mogi and I.   Mogi to wait for the birds, to watch people passing by.  While I do my wet wool felting , eco printing and line up drying.  No need to worry about wet floor.
That yellow-bellied Mogi !!!  Heard the horn and jumped away....
Pampered little thing on my lap to read the little drawing book - " If I had a mas in Provence " while I enjoyed my mug of tea.
