Natural dyed nuno felt baby sets

These days I've been doing some nuno felt and wool felt with natural dyeing.  Months ago I  attended THEi workshop as guest for their students' works with NGO. (last post), I've scraps of silk dyed in safflower in the experiment.  Also I dyed my silk hankies, silk strings, silk naps and mulberry silk.
To make use of them a baby dress is made with nuno felt skills for textures with the yellow shades of safflower
The white silk stuff dip dyed in the safflower pot got shades of golden yellow on different materials.  All looks wonderful.
With the simple sketch of my nuno felt baby dress, silk chiffon base, a little scraps of organza and the safflower dyed scraps as well merino wool, I started the felting.
I'm very impatient doing any sorts of creation.  I told myself be patient and do well  for this little thing.  Silk strings, pulled silk hankies and white mulberry silk all laid carefully.  The yellow pattern for the flowers are true color dyed from safflower, only the little grayish scraps dyed in a pot with rose leaves.
After some "rock n roll", color stay the same good.  In 3 hours I finished it , time as usual for this little thing.

Today I made the little bootie to go with it.   Played my magic wand,  turnout in an hour..
A pair of bootie, front and back of the dress.
Nuno felt texture is what I want.  The yellow look is so sweet.

Aren't they adorable?  It's funt to make these little things.
The set is good for shower or wedding reception.  How beautiful  if you make it for your own baby.  When she grown up you'll recall all those sweet days on her first step of life.......

Nuno felt summer dress

Busy bee and productive farmer, that's my daughter Jas and me.
I'm really into nuno felt.  The wearables need a good feature to perform.  Jas is my exclusive model.
She's too busy I have to make appointment. May Day we family had a ride around my studio for the shots of the nuno felt dress just made.
The one piece dress with one short sleeve.
Main design is textural surface in the front. Lustrous look of silk strings and merino blended silk.
Though it's May still chilly by the sea.  Girl jumped to keep warm.
Patient Jas wrapped with a nuno felt scarf to let me take a few more shots.
The scarf also made with merino and silk strings.  Simple and soft.
Crinkle and textural surface with chiffon, lustrous silk strings and mulberry silk.
Made inside out
Project finished after a few hours
I'm going to do another nuno felt gown of pastel green, a long one.  That would suit in summer.  Who said wool can only be worn in winter? Wool felt can only be done in cool days?  365 days are my woolly days.
Thanks girl for showing my pieces !

Enhanced nuno felt shawl

I made the nuno felt shawl for my customer.
This is one of the ten pieces she asked to make in a row.  When I gave her the original look as the top image, she said it's a bit plain and asked if I can do some highlights.  I said after felted it's not likely to modify.  She didn't insist though.  Thought to myself if do it again it takes me another time like making a new one.    Back home, I asked myself if my customer doesn't like what I do and put aside the piece, it's no good.   I want my customer happy with the pieces I made.  Then I offered free to modify it.  I laid a bit more black merino wool and some mulberry silk for the highlight.
It looks better with the white mulberry silk

Endeavor to keep my creative juice flowing, now in customer's hands and she's pleased with it.

Final touch up of the shawl for the gown

I've made a nuno felt shawl to go with my gown on daughter's wedding. Last Sunday I put on for the fitting. It goes well. Thought if some glass beads embellished may have a sparkling look.
Just done.
This is a chiffon base shawl made with merino wool, gauze and mulberry silk.
