Students' shoulder bag 學生羊毛袋製作

Yesterday was a gloomy day.  My two students A & J came for the whole day to make these shoulder bags.

Set up inspected by Mogi before they're coming at 10am.
For big projects I meant projects with plenty of water, I've to do in the open yard, it's no good if  raining or windy.  Thank goodness yesterday was only a grey day.  They're blessed and started layering......

Bags are made with inside pockets, firm and sturdy handle, all one piece made with enclose resists.
Both ladies like green but with different outside patterns.
Having a personality color green means kind, generous and compassionate, as they are.

After hours of wool layering, rubbing and rolling....... such physical exercise ..... not yet finished

Remove the resists, soak in hot spa...... some more rubbing, rolling, make the handle firm and round......

Alright, after 6 hours hard work, almost finished.  Beat and shape it to the desired form.

- "Is it ok?"
- " Well, that's what I wanted and I like it"

The colorful bag done by A, who loves bright color contrast with green.  She said it goes well with her green leather jacket.

Such cheerful color

Both are same color tone with different patterns,  double ruffled flaps, round and sturdy short shoulder strap.   There're some mulberry silk blended wool embellishment. After dried would have sheen look.

The two ladies A & J are so passionate about felt making.  Within the month they learnt in a row wild fleece bag making, nuno felt wrap and natural printing then the shoulder bag.  As they're not learnt from basic flat, some techniques are new and quite curious for the effects.  They're talented and tackled well.  I like to do one-on-one or two tuition as I can concentrate more on their works.   They're really into felt making and planned to come next to do pouches with wool painting.

I like home studio since flexible, I don't have to worry about over run.  Also having  this naughty brat around makes fun.
Until next time.......

2-bag, not TOO bad 不一樣的袋袋子

Two bags made last week just to add more samples of my work.  Both are made with my natural dyed fabric scraps.
The left one flap looks "crackers", yes, intended.  Chain strap detachable for a clutch purse. The right one made "3D texture" look.  Strap and bag made in one piece.
Front and back of "crackers bag" .  Back is decorated with green wool nepps.

Front and back of "3D flap".  Back is with yarn.

Sets of two bags go with my natural printed & dyed scarfs.
Layout of the "crackers bag" - the silk scrap former look with euc leaves prints.  The technique inspired by Heather and learnt in Portugal from Nicola.  The green wool nepps given by Cynthia.  When I was making the bag, I thought of you, my wonderful friends.

Crackers bag with a brooch made with ceramic & wool. Thought it goes well.

My plate is full.  While making the bag, a bundle was boiling.  Time to unwrap and ecstatic to see the outcome of a scarf.

Bags, bags, not too bag......

I've in mind making something with my stitched hemp with a bag.  This one is in a dye pot.  Will it be  yummy?   Stay tuned.

All natural dye - 3D texture clutch flap 質感羊毛手提包

Today I dressed  all in my eco print, lots compliments from my friend.  I said I like natural dye.  "What? You like natural die?"  I said "no no, I meant natural dye".
I've done quite a lot experiments of eco print / dye. Some are good some are not.   With cool season approaching, wool felt stuff becoming hot.  Since last Jan learnt the 3D textural surface,  can't stop to make bags to make use of the scraps. This is the one just made.

I like to use my own "not-so-good" dyed scraps just to make use of every single piece.  This georgette silk I imprinted the euc leaves but no good then dyed in safflower pot.  Still not pleased thus used for the 3D texture of a clutch flap.

After layered around and enclosed the resist and the 3D scraps.....

Final to lay the safflower dyed silk hankie for a bit yellow sheer look.

Time out, let the stuff saturate and have my coffee....... Mogi's final check....

Almost 3.5 hours rubbing, rock n roll........ here it comes.

The rich texture of the flap with little raw fleece is the way I like to do - a little soft against the hard "twist".

Finished with lining, magnet button and detachable strap.
The fold back flap to make an inner pocket is fine and the clutch size is just fit.
Goes well with the natural printed scarf.
A clutch of a detachable handbag is the sample for my upcoming workshop. Also a new item for my winter.
"Mum, it's windy, mind the blow-off.... "
Another 2 pieces of natural print nuno felt scarves are in the making.
Stay tuned, until next time.

My collection of eco printed bags 植物印染系列手袋

I made a row of these bags, all wool felted and eco printed & dyed in eucalyptus leaves.  What I wanted to do is the style of flaps.  Following pics speak themselves...........

I call this "bigger half moon" bag. Made in one piece with strap and flap. A little wild fleece for texture.
Back of the bag
 Open the flap
 Prints inside
This is another one - "smaller half moon". Two-flap and nuno felted texture.
With another euc leaves prints inside
 Prints outside as well
I put a little mulberry silk on both sides that has a shinny look
Another one - a square bag with lining and inner pocket
Prints inside and nuno felted texture at the bottom corner
Back of the first one I made before. Last post mentioned.
The bigger "half moon" bag former in white. Wrapped with euc leaves and boiled, turned to brown.
Making of the small one is the same but only with my own printed scrap for nuno felt.
So you see the bag making from a pizza pastry to salami making.
These are my collection just made.  This is my idea of flap texture. In the world of creation, we see, we make but we may cross the road with the same. I don't or ever copy anything of this design.  If anyone see anything of the same, it's coincidence.  Please give me a shout, my hat off.  In the blogland I like to inspire and get inspired.  I don't mind to share, otherwise you wouldn't see me here.
