 Purple tone from the same green leaves........

 I made the imprints from the same green leaves to purple in my lazy way........

 Traditional indigo blue from sorts of plants like Strobilantes by making vat but I only have some leaves barely for imprints.

 Two years ago I was fortunate to be invited to join the French expert  Michel Garcia's workshop in Hong Kong (last post). The indigo blue vat was made from the local Strobilantes,  the exact name I can't recall.  After the event the farm owner was so kind to give me a small plant to grow.

Now it's thriving and I've been doing experiments for a few times in the non-traditional way.

 This is the species of Strobilantes.  If anyone knows the exact name I'm glad to know.

 Usually I only do fermentation then soak the fabric for sometime to get the greenish blue

 Sometimes do pounding for the marks on cotton.

 This day hit my mind to try boiling, to my surprise I got pink-purple.

Here're the "Before & After" images of the two printed fabrics.

 I washed with soap immediately, no color change, no breeding.  The same strong.

The dark prints are leaves direct on fabric while the pale from mirror prints,.  Both are bold.

 Even the overlapped prints are quite impressive

Two pieces of purple shades botanical imprints from Strobilantes

Strobilantes are magic plant for me.  I don't have much to make the indigo vat, I just take a few leaves to print, I'm lazy but content with the outcome.

Simply a dress of botanical imprints just done yesterday.   I made it with the light silk jersey with the leaves prints done last year (post) in Israel Irit Dulman's studio.  

The rational I made this dress was that ...............

去年在以色列做的植物移印染針織絲料, 日前才把這布料製作了一件簡約單袖裙子,

原來針織絲料與羊毛混纖織物有不錯的效果, 結實的紋理, 柔軟的質感.

這片是實驗物. 

    I recently learnt the textures making with Tatiana Sheverda, I needed to  practise with different fabrics. From the stash I got a scrap of silk jersey and made a small sample of nuno felt.  It draps nicely,  bold textures and soft.  

 This piece of tube width silk jersey with the botanical imprints done in Israel was idled long in the stash

 The most impressive were the bold prints of the yellow flowers Camomile. 

The piece of fabric reminds the stunning fields of spring last year.

 The fabric is printed with assorted eucalyptus, casaurina and camomile. Some outlines are very clear.

 A picture of the leaves layout shows the the "before and after (top left two images)". 

Since it's a tube width I simply cut one armhole, one extended short sleeve, folds on waist, loose tie knot on the shoulder armhole, machine hemmed all edges. That's it.

Fashion making in Holland 荷蘭之時裝實習

The two pieces of textural garments in different styles I  just made.

  

 My fashion making workshop last week in Holland was inspiring. The two pieces of wearable learnt from Tatiana Sheverda will be another textural garments in my wardrobe.   

上周在荷蘭 Atelier Fiberfusing 跟名師Tatiana Sheverda學習時尚羊毛工藝時裝設計, 這兩件背心設計在於其獨特質感及雙面穿著. 這次學習獲益良多, 日後我會應用這技巧創作更具質感的羊毛作物.

 

After the workshop held in Dorie van Dijk 's  Atelier Fiberfusing in the beautiful countryside, I'm back with lots in my plate.

 When I first received workshop info from Atelier Fibrefusing, almost impressed with the unique fashion designs of Tatiana, especially the textures.  That's why I flown from Hong Kong to Holland for the workshop.

 The elegant coat is gorgeous - color, design and textures I love most.  It's all handmade with each stitch.

 The 3-day workshop started with Tatiana's intro of textures, draping, fashion basic design and pattern making........ 

 Each day served with healthy farmers' lunch. Love the Dutch cheese which gives lots of energy!

Before coming, we're told to bring large prefelt to work for the design.
These two big pieces I made before the trip. The grey one with cotton gauze base and merino.

 This brown one with my own ecodyed chiffon base.
 
 I was working on the surface design with the grey prefelt.

 The pebble stones from the ground were the tools for my design.

 During the days, I finished the two pieces of reversible garments under the guidance of Tatiana.

In the class, other students made different coats and dresses. Atelier Fiberfusing has more images to show.   Each of own style and color.  I like all of them.

 

Tatiana also helped us a tailor made garment block. I have the jacket / coat temple  to bring home.

I'm home now and eager to make the prefelt and textures of the "lavender theme".  They're ready to go into a jacket with my own block!
