Blue, blue I'm not blue

Pastel blue is one of my favourite colors.

Today is raining. Weather forecast even for the whole week will be raining. What a gloomy week ! What matter most is color will change mood. Looking at the nuno felt top I made last weekend. I'm not blue.

This photo was taken last Sunday near my studio. It's a fine day with breeze.

Here in Hong Kong, weather in summer is humid and hot but still I can make apparel with wool. My friends asked if it's hot to wear something made with wool. I said not really if we just use a little wool to make a nuno felt dress or top like this is airy.

You see I only used a little bit of merino wool on the upper part of a crinkle chiffon base.

Materials are only merino wool, mulberry silk, scraps of chiffon.

Same as I did before. This is a one-piece chiffon without cutting. I put the foam resist in between then scattered some white merino wool on the upper part and along the waist lines then covered the chiffon.
Put scraps of chiffon, mulberry silk, merino wool over the upper part.

Done the rolling and light rubbing. The agitation made wool felt with chiffon to form the special textures and the waist lines "attached". I cut the neckline then the top is made. Basically no needle is required to make a top like this.

I used the same crinkle chiffon with merino wool to do a "rope" around the waist.

Close up of texture

Front and back look.

I like to do apparels for all ages. I need a young look to enhance my piece. My daugter just got married. Yesterday when she's back from honeymoon I grasped her to show it.

Nuno felt is a wonderful thing. The texture is what I want to make. This shawl goes well with my gown on daughter's wedding.

My marvelous piece ! Am I boasting ......?!

Eco print rose leaves

This is the third piece of eco print top I made during Easter holiday.

Books by India Flint

Since I received my books "Second Skin" and "Eco Colour", I've never stopped trying. I got more info from the books. This time I done with silk. I soaked the silk fabric in sea water overnight. Then put some rose leaves, rose petals, euc leaves, kind of orchids and a few leaves of
chrysanthemum and it's flowers. Steamed for 40 min and stayed in pot for 2 days.

Result with euc leaves and rose leaves are green and bold but others are not. Wondering if rose leaves are good on sea-water-soaked silk?

Anyway I still pleased with the rose leaves and used the nuno felt skill to make the neckline for the one piece top. Then machine sewed both waist lines.

Here's the look. Green is subtle.

Euc leaves (red ones) are not that bright as on chiffon. Wondering if it's because I used the leaves stored in fridge for 3 weeks?

This is back side.

The top looks a bit small. I may transform it into a girl's dress.

Now that Easter holiday just over. Routines back to track tomorrow. April has least working days. Wow, I'm still in holiday mood !

Eco print top

Eucalyptus print is my favour. I made on a chiffon and done this simple and light top in Easter holiday. I don't know the proper name of this kind. Not planted locally. I only bought from florist.
I put the leaves on a chiffon. The brown pieces are bark of the local euc which gives brown color on fabric. As usual I rolled and steamed for 30 min. and left overnight. I particularly love this breed of leaves which always give bold and red.

On the whole piece of the printed chiffon, I put a very thin merino wool over the middle of the chiffon. Made an oval shape as the neckline.

Rolled the part with the wool for about 100 times, opened it and rubbed with hands lightly. Wool migrated with chiffon.

I cut the neckline and embellished with some glass beads. Mogi's monitoring me to make sure I'm doing well !

I then machine sewed both waist lines. Passed the quality control. That's it.
I love doing this sort of euc leaves on chiffon. Prints are bold and airy.

A light shawl is fine in any season.

A simple top just finished in a few hours. I'm now doing a fabric handbag with this leaves print. Thought it goes well for my travel. It's underway. Will show it when finished.
