Wrapped up 2018 with my own dress 總結2018創作

My nephew is getting married on 30 Dec and I made own dress for the banquet to wrap up my creation of 2018
This is what I designed when I was in Israel two months ago attending Irit Dulman's natural prints workshop in her country.  I picked some leaves in the vineyard and laid out the pattern.  I made the prints on my logwood dyed silk.

The video shows the prints from scratch to a garment finished.
I first dyed in logwood with appropriate mordant according to Irit's instruction.  Then laid the leaves mainly of nandina, melia, quisqualis indica and vine leaves.
All leaves printed so nice.

I'm quite pleased with all the fabrics in the workshop, not only silk but bamboo, viscose, wool and cotton are very strong and bold.
Nandina and quisqualis indica are just amazing

Melia is also good
A fruitful workshop with shades of purple.
When I back Hong Kong I took the fabric to have custom made cheongsam by professional tailor (Customize Tailor Culture Collection 紫羅坊 ).  Polly Po is so nice to make it in my short notice and it fits perfect. I asked my daughter to model it with my nuno felt shawl.  Here comes the images........

Polly is very efficient and professional in designing chinoiserie garment.
I'm glad to have this one-of-a-kind chenogsam with my own surface design.  What's more is the pattern so that I can make a few with my eco printed fabrics.

Eco printed fabrics into garments 天然植物印染時裝

Interviewed by media who I am admiring, without hesitation I said Irit Dulman.  She's a master whom I've been following and inspiring my works. Part of the fabrics was printed in her studio and the other done in Betty Eilat's while I visited them in Israel early this year. When I back home I sewed it into garment.

My using of oxalis for pattern design was first introduced by Irit.  The combination of oxalis and other plants makes wonderful discharge effect on surface design.
During my stay in Israel I printed some panels under the generous tutelage of Irit.  Below images show how the jacket looks on two generations - my daughter and myself.

This side of linen with prints of passion fruit leaves,  morning glory and discharge of oxalis.
The other part is silk with prints of guava, yellow wild flowers and discharge of oxalis.  Sleeves are cotton/silk blend dyed in logwood and little "muddy prints".
Part of the prints from passion fruit leaves.  I sewed in the front of the jacket  as the focus part.

In June,  formal workshop in Holland artelier fibrefusion taught by Irit Dulman, I learnt the techniques and done lots of panels.  Recently I sewed a few garments below.
This one is Korea silk with plants gathered around the studio in Holland.

Just love the dainty flower prints and the bamboo leaves.

Next is the top with this printed panel

I used a template of a shirt my friend made me when I was young.  Nice that the size still fits.  I made the top with panels cut into front and back also for sleeves.  Maximized the fabrics for the style......

Be it a long shirt or tied a knot, I'm happy with.

I made another one with the same shirt template. Panels are first printed then dyed in indigo.  Formerly I don't like much indigo blue but this light shades I'm pleased.

It's always good to have the brad Mogi by my side.  Whatever I'm doing he's curious and of course territorial behaved.
Still have piles of prints in stash. Just like to make garments suitable for two generations.  This is how my way goes.

Natural printed multi styled wrap 植物印染小黃花製作

Last month I done lots of wild yellow flower prints in Israel.  Now some of the panels sewed into wearable. Here comes one of it.......

The wrap for pants or as scarf.......

Prints on silk with iron and tannin mordant

I sewed two panels, that's it.

It goes well with the pants which was done last year.

Thought it also goes well with other pants

Be it a wrap for pants or a scarf, it's something of my handmade.

I've done lots of experiments over the years. Just wanted to make simple garments or accessories with the swatches.  Almost everyday I like to put on one of my own designs just to test colorfast.  Whenever my neighbour sees me she recognises my works and says it's unique and one-of-a-kind. What a beautiful word "unique".   Yes it doesn't always mean pretty, may be she meant "muddy" .  I don't care this is my style.
