Another yellow prints

Since back from Israel last week I was so lazy because of jet lag.  My heart left in Israel and always recalling days playing prints with plants particularly with the yellow flowers.  Now we're into early winter, mountains with blooming wild tithonia.  I grasped a few and made prints on the fabric Irit Dulman gave me two weeks ago.  Having my tea and piece of homemade tart tartin as well dates and macadamia from Israel was so pleasant.
The mug I made for my late mother on her birthday with the theme of a painting of yellow field done by my French friend Brigitter's partner.  All is a good memory of loved ones.
I'm not busy as a bee, I just like biking and pick some wild flowers then play magic.

After the heat opening with surprise.......

Purple from hibisus and yellow flower from tithonia

Clear and clean from hibiscus

White from oxalis and green from leaf of solanum torvum
Before & After of the prints

While the bundle of prints was boiling I made the tart tartin.
My friend Betty in Israel was so nice to give me some macadamia she grown. I have no cracker but a hammer to open.  It's easy.
Enjoyed afternoon tea with everything of my handmade is such a good feel.
We enjoy our day
Life is simple with Mogi and good to have him showing my piece

Hope you enjoy your day as we do.

Nature inspired creation - ecoprinting fabric

My recent works mostly are with some flower prints. Whenever I go hiking I would like to gather some fallen flowers for experiment. This knit silk jersey was made into a reversible Nuno felt dress after natural printing. Last hiking in Sai Kung was inspiring with the stunning views. Back home and I created a few pieces of prints.  Pictures below speak themselves.........

The day was brilliant to start our hiking from the water front......

Views of Ma On Shan and Tai Po in the further distance after an hour hiking
Creek with running water after heavy rains
After up and down then the easy coastal walk with the mountain view - the "Saddle Hill"
Tranquil bay with fishing boats

Stop under the shade of papaya leaves to have a closer look of Saddle Hill.

The fallen camellia just good for my experiment.

Below are the images of "Before & After"  植物鋪陳經個多小時加熱後的比較

I love the prints on silk jersey as it's so soft. This is the dress made with nuno felt skill I love most, soft color and airy feel.

Natural flower prints

Another good day to do experiment with fallen flowers.
First time to print the Chinese Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) was impressive. Though color is not strong, shape is nice.
To work with techniques learnt from Irit Dulman. I made this tube width knit silk jersey with prints on front and back.

This is Chinese Hibiscus.  The day I walked up the trail behind my area, found lots of fresh fallen flowers that triggered my experiment with it.  Collected a few sumac leaves and other climbing plants on the road side, immediately I bundle boiled the fabric after mordant treatment.

Wow, opened it  to my surprise it works.  Outcome is soft with other leaves on the fabric.

Before and after of the prints
Since it's tube width, either side can be front or back.

Last week I buried myself in the dye pot for the experiment of techniques learnt in Irit's workshop in Spain. Doing this is to refresh my skills on our native plants with different ways of dyeing and mordant.
I received some queries about the making.  As code of ethics and respect to the teacher, excuse me not going into details but I am happy to share the outcome of my experiment as  reference of feasible flowers or plants for the techniques for anyone who already know the skills.

The knit silk jersey of 3 different prints on the dummy.
Fabric will be sewed into garment after I have ideas of making.
