On a sunny Saturday a group of nature lovers gathering together in a tranquil seaside to explore bounty from plants. I shared fun of botanical printing on wool scarf. It's the basic simple contact printing technique to get direct images from leaves with only tannin and iron combination. Participants just got some plants around and layout on substrate. Then rolled up the bundle and steamed for an hour. Printing of leaves and hues marked on scarf. Such a wonderful moment for their first encounter of botanical printing techniques. Some even wanted to further explore such printing skills on paper and other fabrics. I'm glad to share such joyful experiments.
Layout on fabric
Some plants from generous friends
Delicate placement
Roll up a bundle
Stacked bundles ready for steaming
Beautiful seaside we're working together
After an hour steaming it's excited to unwrap bundles
Simply tannin and iron reaction on wool is impressive
When I got home I enhanced the demon piece with second dip in alum for bright golden-yellowish of euc leaf prints.
Here’s the outcome….
Botanical printing is fun and sky limit exploration.
