My way of slow fashion is long. I enjoy it and want to explore it with natural printing and design it in my way. This silk blend raglan outfit just done.
A blog reader commented "Terriea, you make it sound so easy! Like we all could go biking and then come home and sew something beautiful. You are inspiring."
It's true that in the recent days I almost done with "good finds" from biking. Mother Nature gives me lots windfalls wherever I go.
Here's how the raglan outfit made........
Got some windfall of buds of eucalyptus on a leisure ride
Got some windfall of buds of eucalyptus on a leisure ride
On the other day got the morning glory and the leaves.
A layout on the fabric with appropriate mordant to bring out the shade and shape
Here's the outcome with effect of iron and tannin after 1.5 hours boiling
On separate fabrics I laid different formation
Outcome with clear background and outlines with iron mordant
The "before & after" looks of prints from rose leaves, eucalyptus and needle pines
Well, the pieces of fabric all done and ready for the cutting and sewing
A trial composition
Sewed the raglan sleeves, a side pocket and fixed with pearl shell buttons.
Mogi, "hey, does it fit well?"
It's light and fits well for the cool spring. That's what I done with nature inspiration after biking.
This year I may not be able to do more biking as have a few commitments of projects overseas. I miss my team and the activity. Last week a glimpse of the area down where I went with the team for the rides along fish ponds, village lanes and bushes.......
This may be my last ride in our local eucalyptus plantation.
But I reminisce my 2014 visit in Israel and the blooming of the yellow flowers.
How's the sweet boy now?
I just want to do a special project of series of flower prints as I did in Israel years ago.
That simple yellow flowers and the pines make me travel again this week to Israel
These photos were taken in 2014. I am so happy to meet again my good friend Betty and stay in her house to do my project.
I do wish this weekend I can do biking in Tel Aviv along the coastline of Mediterranean Sea.
It's a shame Apple does not support Blogger so I can't do blogging while I am on the road. So that I may disappear for some time. Stay tuned on my facebook.
Safe travels!
