Just made this wool felt doll. I intended to make without facial expression but hubby said it looks "terrible" without eyes. Could my bloggers advise how do you think. I'll post next time details of making.
It's gorgeous, Terri, especially with the bouquet of flowers!!! It doesn't look terrible without eyes, but my preference would be to have eyes... maybe just lightly embroidered. Interested to see what you decide...
She would be primitive with or without eyes... as long as you did not add other facial features. Giving her eyes would also give her more personality. She looks fine without them, but they would also make a statement. And great job on her, by the way! Just fantastic work!
She's just beautiful and stylish, too! I think a simple dot eye would be perfect. Do you remember Joan Walsh Anglund's drawings of children with black dot eyes and no other features? I think that look would be good for your doll. I'm anxious to see what you decide. No faces on dolls is always controversial. I bought a decorative banner to hang at work with a girl with no facial features. It drove one of my coworkers crazy, and she glued those moving googly eyes on the face. Very tacky, but funny, too.
She is so sweet. I would definitely add eyes so she can see the world around her! I don't think she needs but tiny eyes. Play around with it and do let us know what you decide upon. You cannot mess her up, she is so cute.
Just a hint of eyes would be perfect... She is wonderful...I love to see all the felted projects you are completing...you just keep expanding the creative process beautifully! :)
Cute and soft. I would add a few dots for the eyes and maybe for the lips, like they do with the steiner dolls. This leaves the expressions up to the imagination.
I can understand how hard it would be to decide on the eyes, she looks wonderful, and whether you decide on the eyes or not she will still look good. Susanne :)

ReplyDeleteOh Terrie, this is just adorable! She looks fine without eyes, but would look cute with them too. I don't know if this helped.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! The flowers, the hair, the coat ... so cute!! Perhaps two little points as eyes??

ReplyDeleteHmm..I think it looks more classic without eyes..but I would add a small lip for a smile!
ReplyDeleteI suggest you try drawing and cutting out some simple eyes and seeing what you think!
