Assorted imprints from plants 植物移印染色調

 

Since I encountered botanical imprints, I wanted red, that's easy from eucalyptus.

 After red and green, I want brown, yellow and dark shades.  With iron mordant I got the limonium (彩星) dark prints.

   

Then I made some yellow from onion skins with alum mordant

 With iron mordant to bring out the dark shades of limonium

 

Always excited moments to unwrap after 1.5 hours boiling

 I've done another piece with limonium and a sort of unknown bush which gives a bit khaki (right image)

The unknown bush I picked on my hiking. Know it's a kind of plant for ointment but no sure the name.

Shanghai teaching environment (3) 上海教學周邊景致

 

Just a few days ago I was in the brilliant ancient town in China for the teaching of these  botanical imprinted and nuno felt scarfs done by my talented students.

My last posts here and there for the mention. 

上海之行, 教學環境之優美與學生的聰敏在幾日間做出這些漂亮製作. 而我也在空檔舊地重遊, 此行是春天, 花香處處, 小橋流水, 給我不一樣的教學與旅遊體驗.

 

Thank you for the participants making my exceptional teaching in China and I'm impressed with the nearby environments.

 

 

The workshops venue was a stone throw from this little water village, I was able to stroll along on my arrival to capture some shots.

tiny purple flowers....... Oh, I've no idea of what kind of these flowers are .  They're simply sign of spring has sprung here in China

This is the little village next to the workshop venue.  Just a few minutes strolling to see it.

The workshops were held in such brilliant and quaint village

We're able to walk around,.......

....... with healthy and variety of 3 meals a day.....

I'm back home with intangible experience and the lovely gifts by students and the organizer. 

Teaching in Shanghai - Wool felt (2) 上海羊毛工藝教學

 

The second session of my teaching in Shanghai Jinze Arts Centre was wool felt / nuno felt. They made nuno felt scarfs, ring flowers and phone pouches with the techniques learnt.

上海金澤工藝館的教學第二、三天是羊毛混纖薄纱及羊毛小包包製作, 各學員運用掌握到的技巧製作大小不同的圍巾及別緻的指環花.  大部份學員都是初接觸濕氈製作,  對其可塑性深感興趣, 相信此後他們會發掘更多羊毛創意.

 

 After my sample demo for the nuno felt texture effect, they're going to do their own layering.

Students were so pleased to find the versatility of wool, they worked till night. A retreat of making flower rings.

 I made a rug with fleece of wild yak and found it so soft.
