Private eco printing from basic to advance 植物印染從基本學習開始

"Mum, you're thoughtful for the students."
"Yes, my students are quite enthusiastic and we get inspired at times.  I love them."
These days I have a few one-on-one tulelage for natural printing.
Today a welcome kit of the basic botanical eco printing was prepared for a student, May.
這些日子不時有個別學生跟我學習植物印染, 有從基本絲質面料而至媒染處理植物纖維布料上的印染, 近日兩位本地及臺灣學生的製作, 有簡約及豐富色調, 這是植物印染的奧妙.
Following a brief introduction of eco printing, she started the placement with assorted plants I gathered around.
I taught the skills of shades effect on one end and the other without anything thus she knows the difference and able to apply on her future experiments.

After 1.5 hours of steaming, May got her own OOAK (one-of-a-kind) pure silk eco printed scarf.  The basic skills are what I developed some years ago.  It's simple yet can do fabulous shades with appropriate natural mordants.  The first piece of successful eco printing drives her enthusiasm to learn more about natural printing on cellulose fabrics.

These days I also have another student from Taiwan, a returned student SL who's the second time coming to explore the cellulose mordant.  I'm glad that I got heads up from master artist Irit Dulman whom I learnt from her the techniques, to teach others with my way of working.  A batch of sample prints on linen, cotton, canvas and rayon was done by SL.
Other than some plants I gathered on my biking, she picked flowers and leaves in my yard and placed in her artistic style.......
Outcome as the pictures speak themselves.   Grape leaves, lemon geranium, lemon grass, passion fruit, cosmo....and lots and lots from farmer's field.

Some acid plants of discharge effect

We also talked about leather prints and did an experiment.  Quite interesting outcome.

 Prints and dyes on cotton
Prints from the flowers picked in my yard.  Yellow cosmo and marigold are quite strong.
When I asked my students how did they find me, some would say when they searched internet my exposure in social media popped up.  This was one of  the shootings of a TV program of my works.  I'm  not a marketing or hard selling person but if anyone who likes to learn the basic eco printing on fabrics or paper, here are my instant download PDF tutorials (English version of basic tutorial, Russian version of basic and English enhanced tutorial incl paper prints)  in my ETSY on line shop TerLing Creations

  1. It's astonishing to see the variety of shapes and colours you can get with the various leaves and flowers, isn't it.
