Nuno felt wearable making 學生羊毛混絲衣物製作

 What's Mogi expecting?
Yeah, he's expecting two guests coming.
Today I've two students for nuno felt learning.  Normally I do felting in the open yard but today's sun was melting.  Thus home studio today.

The young students wanted to explore the new felting technique - nuno felt, to make  wearables.  After showing my different designs, we started teaching.......
Billy wanted to explore the wonder of seamless and texture,  I taught him the skills of making a little girl dress.  Mandy wanted to make a nuno vest for a little boy.
After hours laying, rubbing and rolling, almost finished.
Final touch of edges of the vest.
 Dress is completed
 Vest is finished as well.
Front of the vest is "cloud & skies", back is "Moon & stars".
Two sides of the dress both with textural surface.
The vest and dress are simply sweet .  Well done boy and girl.

Fluffy ball meets "Woolly Woolly" 毛毛球遇著毛茸茸

A nunu felt vest just made for this winter.

" What makes you so greedy, Mogi? " My fluffy ball is crazy about wool. He wants to swallow my fleece. Naughty guy!

Mogi 見到羊毛就發狂, 好似小朋友吃朱古力一樣滋味!

喂喂喂 ! 件衫係我架 ! 服左佢 ! Really hooked on wool felt, almost every weekend I’d make a piece. I made this Nuno felt vest. But looks a bit smaller and short. Hubby said it’s no good for myself, better give it away to a little girl.

Well, I made one fits for myself in no time. I love Wensleydale fleece, the long and curly look is so warm and the texture is so lovely. Also this year woolly fashion is a trend. Making costume with wool is far less cruelty to animals than with furs.
Here it is. Am I good looking with it ? ~.~
Wool is such a versatile medium. I love wool felt but honestly I’ve little knowledge about sorts. I don’t know what’s tops fleece, batt, blend …… Many bloggers are experts I can seek advice via this platform.
I used these Wensleydale fleece, merino wool and chiffon as usual a base to make this vest.

I laid some curly fleece, some brownish and dark wool over the template.

Second layer of merino wool over the fleece then covered with chiffon.

Turned it over and put some white and black merino wool as well a little mohair on this side in order to make a reversible look. Enclosed the template with wool, except the bottom as I intended to have the woolly look.

After "rock n roll", I removed the template out and rubbed it lightly then some more pressure to make it fully felted. Finally cut the cuffs and shape it to well fit.

When I was making this vest, I imagine myself amid the pleasant smell in the field of Frisland. Yes, pleasant, REALLY love the smell. Indeed the brown curly fleece was given by Kim from Holland. Were they come from these sheep !!?? THANKS again, Kim.

Final look of side one "front & back" with more brownish fleece.

Reversed side with black merino wool and mohair.

This is a casual wear I like, can go with a belt, a pin or anyway.

A pin of a sheep - a ceramic pin made by myself. Is it cute?

I like to make things with my hands. I love sheep more after I encountered with wool felt.

This vest will be a warmer in the coming winter.

This fluffy ball makes me warm enough !

Nuno felt vest - "Flame" (火焰之物)

Nature is the fountain of inspiration as I always said. I love autumn, love the changing color from green to red and yellow. I recalled my memory of a trip to Hokaido. I visited an art museum and walked through a brush of maples. My felt works sometimes have the elements of mother nature. Although now is in mid summer, hot and so hot, I still hooked with wool felt. Just done this one piece seamless nuno felt vest . My friends always have the queries of whether wearing something of wool is hot. I tried it in 31+ celsius degree. It's not that warm because it's made with the skill of "nuno felt" - wool entangled into silk chiffon. I call this vest "flame".

I tore the colorful silk chiffon in diagonal stripes, laid it with merino wool and mulberry silk over the resist. Then covered it with white silk chiffon and did the rolling and fulling.

It come out shrinkage about 25%

Close up of texture. That's what I wanted.

White merino wool and green mulberry silk are entangled into chiffon.

Just love this effect.

Front and back look.

A Sunday morning in a little sandbar near my studio. I was cheerful in this peaceful spot.

Have a nice day.

Nunu Felt Vest 羊毛雪紡背心

It's a hot summer weekend. I still love playing with wool. I tried this nuno felt vest in the weekend with mix medium. Materials are mainly silk chiffon and wool, white is the basic one. Small pieces are for pattern, plus some lace, some mulberry silk and the resist template.

Lay the wool, chiffon pattern, mulberry silk over the resist and cover with wool.

Wrap both and do the "rock & roll" for approx. 25-min.

Here turned out the finished vest

- the front

The back.

I fixed it with my handmade ceramic button. This vest can be a summer top or in winter goes with a sweater.

Close up of texture.

I've made some ceramic buttons just for wool felt clothes or for fabric bags. Love to do own handmade stuff as much as possible.

OMG ! Who thrown all over and broken a few pieces ? Mogi curious on it, as well Tiger.

Oh it's you both Mogi and Tiger chasing over the table and poured the container upside down. Fortunately only broken 2 pieces.

Cats, I love you and have to tolerate what you've done. That's me the "cat slave" !
