Paint my purse 我繪我塑羊毛小包包

 

Today the 19th Feb, we're into the Lunar New Year. Having made a few sheep themed stuff as this is the Year of the Sheep / Goat / Ram. 

桃花樹下喜 "羊羊" - 這是今日羊年伊始的主題羊毛小包包.

 

 I painted on silk chiffon with acrylic the peach blossom.

 Peach blossom is the main flower of the new year as it symbolize perseverance and reliability

 Everywhere is decorated with new year ambiance.  The area in my place is very atmospheric......

 That inspired my painting with acrylic on the silk chiffon for the purse making.

 As usual I layered Finn wool then covered with my painted chiffon with two sheep.

 Mogi's a bit puzzled ?!

 Not more than two hours I finished it.  Finn wool is always my fav.  It felts so fast and nicely.

 Simply a purse with inner pocket as cosmetic case.

 Or a waist purse for my travel with iPhone, camera and keys.

  

That's something I made for myself with sheep theme for the new year 

 The purse yet is good for red packets - tradition for the married or senior to give to the younger ones.

Painted nuno felted purse 畫畫小手袋

 

Just made a nuno felted purse. A piece goes with the nuno felt dress. Isn't it a perfect match?

 

 

 I like to make something of practical and multi-styled. 

The purse strap is removable.  The back is made with a "tube" to insert the strap for waist bag.

 

 Indeed purple is acrylic I painted on a chiffon scrap.
Then made the nuno felt with Finn wool.

 

I put a resist inside for the pocket and made the closure in one off.

 The other chiffon scrap I made the strap.

 Textural surface on the flap is what I wanted.

Beaded closure is for easy insert.

 A little shoulder purse with detachable strap with knots on both ends.

To make a waist purse, simply insert the strap in the back tube and tie it.

 I wanted the detachable strap as it can be used as a waist tie as well.

 

Enough room of the purse with inner pocket for keys, iPhone and a wallet.

 Find it a  perfect set with a nuno felt dress.

 With our Chinese New Year approaching, is it more appropriate for a little girl's red packet purse?

Wool fleece wall hanging with cat's contribution 貓羊合一毛氈掛畫

 

 Am I a cat fanatic? If you're not or scare of cats please skip it. 

Here again the wall hanging I made with assorted raw fleece with my own cat Mogi's contribution.

我為貓狂, 我的朋友一點不以為然, 我以家中寵兒的毛毛做了一件又一件的東西. 最為喜愛都是做這些羊毛合一掛氈.

 "Can you spot which part of my contribution?", Mogi asked.

 No doubt this part.  He's expecting the festive season.

 A wool felt hanging with X'mas bells embellishment simply a festive home decor.

 As I've quite a lot eco printed fabrics in the stash.  I took the "not-so-good" piece as backing for the nuno felt hanging

llayered a thin Finn white wool then put some assorted fleece over it.  Certainly the main part is the white hair of Mogi!  See .......he's curious....

 His figure....... already approved by him....

 

 After some rubbing, rock n roll..... all felted.  Then I painted it with acrylic.

 These two pieces each with Mogi's contribution.  His hair is so lovely to work with.  Easy felt and nice texture. Cat lovers may like to make something with their fluffy.

 X'mas bells are ambiance of festive season.  Next time I'll post the simple making of these wool felt ornament.

Woolly bag making 寒冬做暖袋

 

Can't believe we're into Feb still embracing the freezing days.  Normally after Chinese New Year it's spring but weather forecast we're below 9 C this week.  Really chilly for us in the sub-tropical region Hong Kong. My woolly bag made two years ago draws eye balls wherever I'm.   Actually I haven't taught open class this sort of bag before since the curly fleece is pricey so fee for learning is steep.  Also much water is needed,  indoor making will be a mess. I can only do in my open yard for private tutorial on special request.

踏入二月，已過立春，還是寒風刺骨，何不做個暖暖羊毛手袋，溫暖自己。

 Enthusiastic student Sammy came to my home studio right after work in a chilly weekday night.

  

We did from inside out.  We used my own natural printed fabric lining for strong backing. 

  

Wool layered on side A, then side B, both with fabric backing.

  

After 3 layers of Finn wool.....

  

Another layer of assorted raw fleece of Finn, Teeswater, Wensleydale, Romney.......

  

Started the rubbing, "rock n roll"......

  

Almost done in 3-4  hours.  

   

 A wild fleece woolly bag is completed with handles attached. Carrying it  just like cuddling a sheep.   If not warm enough.......

 

Cuddle my fluffy......

  

Fluffy Mogi said "Mum just made me the wild fleece bed sheet I'm warm enough, and you......?"

Friends stay warm, I can hear the steps of spring, not far away.
