Eco printed art book making

Just made two eco printed art books.
I took the long weekend to stay in the studio for shots on Sat.

A breezy walk along the promenade

Sunset and lights on

The main street lined with bars ready for clubbing

The two guests next..... while I was having my super.

Back to my studio I thought this art book cover should have some enhancement.......

Some stitches, knots add textures look and touches.

Next day, a brilliant Sunday,  walked to the other sandbar.

Sampan needs a rest

Cool in the water
My two books already done

Here's the making.....
I printed the leaves marks on paper by boiling, coptic binding papers, wool felted the book cover, boiled with eucalyptus and tied boiling in logwood pot.  Books with some printed papers and some blank for writing.
An art book enclosed with my handmade ceramic button -  jot down where I am.
Today Monday is our traditional "Dragon Boat Festival". I'll stay in my tiny studio and feel the ambiance of the dragon boat racing in the beach....... will continue to do some more stitches on the hemp - peace of mind.

24-h in my sanctuary

Yellow, orange, green..... vivid colors of life I love.  My 24-h weekend in my sanctuary started with such bright colors........
I've a one-on-one nuno felt handbag tutorial with student C.     I appreciated very much for her coming from the far north to my tiny studio in the south island.  She started by layering thin wool and a chiffon fabric with foam resist. On top put on mulberry silk strings and silk scraps for the textural effect.  After almost 4 hours she made it.
Beautiful color of nuno felt flowers, some curly Teeswater fleece and silk strings which will be lustrous after dried.
Simple on the other side also with some silk strings.
C. is interested in wet felting.  She self-learnt and made small pretty pouches. For big project like this was the first time. I'd say that making the handle is tricky and doing the nuno felt flowers are wonderful.
Well done girl.  Thanks for coming to my far away tiny studio.
My sanctuary is in Stanley.  Sometimes I do my creations or give tutorials.  Also a space to showcase .......

The nuno felt dresses learnt from Vilte Kazlauskaite
Baby booties and hat, ceramics I made earlier....

Little table with wool felt bottle
A rug learnt from Nicola Brown, Hat learnt from Marie-Clare Buckle.  Vessels inspired by Shirley Cook.
The needle felt dogs and cats.  Ceramic dolls with nuno felt dresses.
The little corner I do my creations or dreaming..........
Stayed overnight, a walk to the pier......
Boats sailing by....
My studio, the little sanctuary with inspiration around.....
Call it a day I picked a stone from the stream to make a wool felt paper weight later.

Spring is sprung for a walk

Spring is sprung. In a sunny and warm Sunday I took an impulse walk from urban home to my studio just wanted to see the blooming flowers.
Before heading off, some papers with leaves prints were drying in the crisp and supervised by Mogi ....
I walked up and down from my home to my studio in Stanley....

A charity walk was taking place.  Participants carrying gallons of water for the awareness of "Save Water and Cherish Life"

Arrived the plaza near my studio there was also activity of outward bound adventure race.  Energetic and good ambience.
A happy family day
Sampans and fishing boats

Little gallery in the alley
On the way to my studio I passed by this area Aberdeen where my very good schoolmate Amy lived decades ago. I remember those days I visited her and viewed the harbour from her flat.  Now all changed.
Indeed the blooming cotton tree was what I intended to see.
I know there's a footbridge I can see from above and close to take photos.
Cotton tree is symbol of resilence and tough.  Just love the flowers,  bright red and "tough".  There're still some buds that would last for another month.
I picked some eucalyptus leaves for my upcoming eco print papers & book binding class.  Spring is sprung.  A good start of the year.
