I'm really into eco leaves prints. Other than the bright reddish euc leaves, I wanted to have grey or dark outcome but no avail. Just came out the idea .....
Know that leaves with iron will have dark marks. I tried bundle around iron cans but aweful black. Thought putting iron rusted cotton scraps may help.
I put over the leaves and bundled it.
Opened it with delights.
Euc leaves with dark outlines
There're only two sorts of euc leaves, euc cinerea still reddish.
Rose leave also got rust outline
The yellow flowers are not bold. Just a little color.
A soft scarf made in 12 hours. I'm too impatient. I don't know if it stayed unbundled longer would it be prettier.
During lunch break today I went to the train station to see if there're any abandoned euc leaves. Not much, only the sawed trunks devastated in typhoon
but some fresh leaves thriving from the roots.
Fall is drawing and forecast crispy air this weekend. My plants are getting yellow leaves.
The cabbage sprouts look thriving. I'm no good in planting. Just hope to reap for a single meal.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a colorful weekend.
Hi Terrie: You may think this 'trial" is "not bad" but to me it is really beautiful; love the way the dark iron outlines came out; I haven't gottent aht yet; really also like the light flower prints and colors; When you say you used iron scraps did you use blackened fabric or actual piece of iron or both? Speaking of patience..I think it is too late for me to develop much of it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ginny. I first got the scraps wrapping around an iron can and steamed for a while. Put it aside for rusting. All darken with some iron. I use this method rather than bundling the whole silk fabric around the can. Avoid direct contact of that can that will will too much iron and too black.
DeleteOh my goodness!!! Ok! That's it!! When are you gonna start selling them!!?? Starting with this one!! :))) Outrageously gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you MaryL. I'm still in the process of learning. Selling? Hope so in some time.
DeleteOh wow Terrie - this is STUNNING!! It could not possibly be prettier.. wonderful work

Amazing, isn't it, that green leaves leave a reddish print!
ReplyDeleteI definitely think this is the prettiest one yet! What lovely contrast you have created. You should plant an eucalyptus tree in a pot and trim it when you need leaves!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, I love the outlines and I think you just need to experiment and each time will be different anyway. I really love how the eucalyptus leaves turned out really bright and still red. I think it is good practice not to leave too long when there is iron in the bundle, especially with silk. I do maximum 5 days and often less.
ReplyDeletewow it really looks amazing Terriea. I love it! I think I need to give printing a try again today.... thank you for inspiring me!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
ReplyDeleteVer beautiful - I love the ethereal look of this!
ReplyDeletei'm stunned by your creations. looove them so much!!i'd like to try to make one too. can we use any leaf?or should it be particular leaves? thank you so much for your share :)

Thanks. Lots of leaves give color but rose leaves, eucalyptus leaves, oak leaves..... give remarkable marks. You've to try with local plants but rusty marks or iron along leaves lines can do to many leaves.
